Ambassador Gary Locke Visits Shanghai
Ambassador Gary Locke visited Shanghai on October 12-13, 2011, his first visit since becoming Ambassador. During a busy two-day trip, Ambassador Locke met Consulate employees and family members and toured the Consular Section. He toured a Roots & Shoots program at Jinzhou Elementary School, where he joined students working in an organic garden. In a speech to the American Chamber of Commerce, the Ambassador outlined initiatives that will strengthen U.S.-China economic ties. He also stopped at the Museum of Contemporary Art to enjoy an exhibition featuring Pixar’s first 25 years making animated movies. Finally, he visited a General Motors Showroom to celebrate Chinese and American cooperation in the automobile sector.
