Please note that a small percentage of visa applications require additional special clearances or administrative processing. Most special clearances are resolved within four to six weeks of application. Applicants are advised of this situation when they apply. When additional clearance or administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.  Applicants can help this process by preparing a detailed resume (with list of publications) and a detailed description of their purpose of travel to the United States.
