Approved
Congratulations! Your application has been approved. Please follow these steps to obtain your visa:
Pay the visa issuance fee if applicable: If you are applying for an L visa and want multiple entries, you must pay an additional visa issuance fee once your application is approved. Citizens of other countries other than China may also be required to pay a reciprocity fee. The Consular Officer will advise you at the conclusion of the interview if an issuance fee is required. These fees may only be paid at the cashier window in the consular section in cash or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) in either RMB or USD.
Receiving your passport back with an approved visa: In September 2008, the US Consular Section in Shanghai switched to a new passport delivery service with our China Post service partner. On the day of your interview (or submission for a renewed visa using our CITIC Bank "Frequent Traveler Program"), you completed a mailing label with a mailing address to where you wanted the passport with visa returned to you. Under our new mailback system, you will PAY 50 RMB upon receipt of delivery and receipt to the address (or China Post office) you wrote on the mailing label (For more information, or to "track" the delivery status using the unique tracking code on the mailing receipt, click here). Approved visa applicants traveling on Foreign Affairs (FAO) passports (Diplomatic, Service, and Public Affairs) can only receive their visas back from their respective FAO office.
Please note: We are not able to provide your visa on the same day as your interview. Except for FAO passports, all passports will be returned through China Post. However, once your visa is printed, the normal delivery time is two to four days. For the fastest return service, please choose to receive your passport and visa at the Shanghai China Post Office at 915 Julu Lu in Shanghai.
We hope you enjoy your visit to the United States.
