Less Than 14, Over 79

Applicants who have passports issued from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, (or previously obtained a non-immigrant visa issued in Shanghai) who are Under 14 Years of Age or are Over the Age of 79 do not have to come in for fingerscanning and a personal interview with a Consular Officer at the US Consulate in Shanghai.

You also do not need to make appointments with our Shanghai’s Visa Appointment Call Center.

There are two options for obtaining a non-immigrant visa if you fall in this category:

Option 1

If you are a parent who is also applying for a non-immigrant visa, you may submit an application for your dependent children under 14 years of age at the time of your appointed non-immigrant visa interview along with your visa application.   The dependent child(ren) do not need to come to the Consular section.  The list of application requirements is below.

Option 2

If you are a child under age 14 or an adult over the age of 79, you may submit your application directly to a participating CITIC Bank branch who will forward the application to the consular section.  When we make a decision on your application, we will mail back your passport (using China Post) with either an approved non-immigrant visa or a  request for a personal interview/more information.  See the list of required documents requirements below.

Please submit the following documents to CITIC Bank, or have your parents submit them at the time of their interview
