Held Pending Administrative Processing
Chinese

Your application requires additional administrative processing before the Consular Officer can decide whether to approve or refuse.  The Officer will inform you, in writing, that your application requires additional administrative processing. The processing time usually lasts three to four weeks.

At the end of your interview, you will receive a letter informing you that your case requires additional processing and if the Consulate requires additional information. You will also receive a card instructing you to pay the China Post Courier Service fee at China CITIC Bank - CITIC Square Sub-branch at 1168 Nanjing West Road, across the street from the Consular Section. You will have a choice of paying either RMB 25 per passport for Self Pick-up at designated post offices, or RMB 45 for Door-to-Door Delivery.

Receiving the card does not mean that your visa has been approved. It merely indicates that the Consulate is keeping your passport while we complete the administrative processing. If you need your passport for travel, please tell the officer at the time of the interview and we will make special arrangements.

If the Officer told you we need additional information, please refer to your letter and fax those items to the Consulate as soon as possible. Our fax number is: 021-6217-2405. All materials must be in English. Processing will not begin on your application until all the required materials have been received.
