U.S. Consulate General Shanghai Hosts Free Pre-Departure Orientation for Chinese Students Going to University in the United States
The U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai will host a pre-departure orientation for students in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui who have received student visas to the United States. This free seminar will take place on July 14, 2008 and is designed to help prepare first-time U.S. university students for studying and living in the U.S. The briefing will cover a variety of topics, including campus life, customs and culture, entry into the U.S., classroom expectations and etiquette, among others. This event is conducted in partnership with the non-governmental, not-for profit U.S. Orientation Center.

ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN ISSUED A VISA ARE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE. Those who have not yet received their visas may not attend this event. All participants will be asked to show their passport and visa at the door. No exceptions will be made.
